AMD Confirms Live Helios Customers and Unveils Helion Rack and 2027 Verano, Expanding AI Infrastructure Beyond GPUs

At OCP 2026, AMD officially confirmed that Helios racks are installed and running at OpenAI, Meta, Microsoft and Oracle, and unveiled the open Helion agentic-AI rack supporting up to 32,768 CPU cores plus the 2027 EPYC Verano roadmap. Helion supports CPU-only or integrated MI350P GPU configurations and is planned for November 2026 availability. The announcements extend AMD's AI competition from GPU training and inference into CPUs and rack systems for agent execution, tool use and sandboxing. Customer quantities, contract values, power and margins remain undisclosed, preventing revenue and CAPEX quantification.

A. Key facts

At the October 12, 2026 OCP Global Summit, AMD said Helios is ramping production and that initial systems are installed and running at OpenAI, Meta, Microsoft and Oracle. Customer deliveries, deployments and workload validation are underway.

The new Helion platform is an open OCP-spec blueprint for agentic-AI racks. A CPU-only configuration based on 6th Gen EPYC can support up to 32,768 CPU cores, while an enterprise all-in-one configuration combines EPYC CPU nodes, Instinct MI350P GPU nodes and general-purpose compute. Air- and liquid-cooled configurations are supported, with availability planned for November 2026.

AMD also unveiled 6th Gen EPYC Verano for 2027, the first EPYC CPU with an LPDDR memory interface. Dell, HPE, Cisco, Hon Hai, Lenovo, QCT, Supermicro and Wiwynn expressed support for Helion, but no binding customer orders or pricing were disclosed.

B. Business significance · InveDeck interpretation

Confirmation of live Helios installations moves AMD's rack-scale AI strategy from design and validation into customer environments. Initial operation at OpenAI and three major cloud providers is an important reference for the combined Instinct, EPYC, Pensando and ROCm stack.

Helion productizes AMD's view that AI infrastructure bottlenecks are expanding beyond GPU model inference into agent tool calls, code execution, database queries and sandbox operations. AMD is broadening competition with Nvidia from accelerator performance to CPUs, networking, software and rack design.

Verano's LPDDR interface signals an emphasis on memory bandwidth and power efficiency for agent-execution CPUs. Performance, core count, pricing and customer volume are undisclosed, so competitiveness remains unproven.

C. Quantifiable impact

The disclosed ceiling for a Helion CPU-only rack is 32,768 CPU cores. This is a maximum design configuration, not an actual shipment configuration or sales volume.

Helion availability is targeted for November 2026 and Verano for 2027. AMD disclosed no customer-specific Helios rack count, Helion order, GPU count, rack power, contract value or average selling price.

AMD revenue, operating income, CAPEX or FCF impact and backlog contributions for partners such as Dell and HPE therefore cannot be calculated. The number of named installation customers should not be equated with volume production or recognized revenue.

D. Link to earnings and expectations

AMD reported Q2 2026 revenue of USD 11.5 billion and Data Center revenue of USD 6.7 billion, up 107% year over year. Management identified scaling Instinct deployments as a key second-half growth driver.

This is an execution-status update rather than a guidance change. Live customer operation is positive, but the absence of quantities and revenue-recognition timing does not support raising existing forecasts.

Dell, HPE, Meta, Microsoft and Oracle also issued no earnings or CAPEX guidance changes. They are confirmed only as system partners or initial installation customers.

E. Industry and supply chain · InveDeck interpretation

AMD gains potential attach opportunities across Instinct GPUs, EPYC CPUs, Pensando networking and ROCm. Dell, HPE, Hon Hai, Lenovo, QCT, Supermicro and Wiwynn gain opportunities in rack integration, power, cooling, storage and services.

Helios installations are directionally positive for GPUs, HBM, advanced packaging, high-speed networking and liquid cooling. Customer rack counts and bills of materials are not disclosed, so this is not confirmation of orders for any specific supplier.

For Nvidia, AMD's open racks and multi-vendor structure increase competitive pressure and expand cloud-provider entry points. Initial installations do not imply lower Nvidia purchases because hyperscalers continue multi-vendor procurement.

F. What to watch next

  • Helios rack counts, GPU generations and commercial workloads at OpenAI, Meta, Microsoft and Oracle
  • Helion pricing, customer orders, rack power and cooling configuration, and execution of November availability
  • Helios and Helion revenue-recognition timing and contribution to AMD Data Center margins and FCF
  • Verano core count, bandwidth, efficiency, production timing and performance versus competing CPUs
  • Backlog and deployment schedules at system partners including Dell and HPE
